Maidstone Hospital League of Friends is a long-established charity dedicated to supporting Maidstone Hospital and improving the experience of patients, visitors, and staff.
Founded many decades ago, the League has grown into an important link between the community and the hospital, raising funds to provide equipment and services that go beyond what the NHS can supply.
Over the years, the charity has donated millions of pounds to purchase specialist medical equipment, fund patient research, and support initiatives that directly enhance care. From high-tech devices used on the wards to small comforts that make hospital stays easier, the League plays a vital role in raising standards and making a real difference.
A central part of its fundraising comes from the hospital shop, located near the main entrance. The shop offers everyday essentials such as toiletries, snacks, sandwiches, and drinks, alongside gifts, cards, fresh fruit, and baked goods. There is also a bookshop, giving patients and visitors a welcome distraction during their time at the hospital.
Alongside retail, the charity organises community events such as coffee mornings, quiz nights, and seasonal fairs. Volunteers, members, and donors are at the heart of its work, ensuring the hospital continues to benefit from the generosity and support of the local community.
