Compaid is a charity dedicated to empowering disabled, older, and vulnerable people across Kent by tackling isolation, inequality, and exclusion. It operates on two core fronts: digital inclusion and accessible transport.
On the digital side, Compaid delivers one-to-one training and outreach sessions that help people navigate the online world with confidence. Participants learn essential skills—from using email and browsers to managing finances, accessing health services, communicating with loved ones, and applying for jobs. Outreach teams bring this training into local communities, visiting partner organisations and community venues to reach people who may not be able to travel to their centre.
The transport service offers door-to-door journeys using adapted vehicles, enabling clients to attend medical appointments, social engagements, shopping trips, or community events. Many users live in areas where public transport is unreliable or inaccessible, and this service often becomes a vital link to independence and wellbeing. In a recent year, over 1,000 people benefited from more than 39,000 journeys across Kent.
All of this is made possible by a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, working to keep costs affordable and maintain high quality. Through its dual mission of connection and mobility, Compaid helps people overcome barriers to full participation in society.
