The UK Government is consulting on how council services in Kent could be delivered in the future.

Folkestone & Hythe, Sevenoaks, Maidstone, Tunbridge Wells, and Tonbridge & Malling are all promoting Option 3a, a three‑unitary council model for the county.

The councils believe this is the best option as it aligns with the existing Kent Police, Kent Fire and Rescue Service, and NHS boundaries, supporting better collaboration between councils and other essential services.

The councils say the plan offers the greatest savings and one of the quickest payback periods.
